ICC cricket world cup 2015 is at its final stage with world’s top 4 teams are into semifinals. Host Australia and New Zealand along with defending champions India and South Africa have made their ways into top four and top in their respective pools. For India it is fourth time they have entered into semifinal of world cup while four time champions Australia will play their seventh semifinal. South Africa who is favorite for this word cup will also play their fourth semifinal.

For South Africa or New Zealand it would be first time to qualify for final of mega event. New Zealand who have played semifinal for six times will have golden opportunity to have a big trophy. Let’s see how South Africa and New Zealand have their world cup history so far:

NEW ZEALAND

One of the strongest team in world especially in limited overs cricket have appeared in all eleven world cups so far. New Zealand in first two world cups reached up to semifinals but could not make their way in final. In 1975 world cup West Indies defeated them by 5 wickets while in 1979 England beat them by just 9 runs. SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa who is popularly known as ‘Chokers’ in ICC event have appeared six time in ICC Cricket World Cup so far. For first four world cups 1975 to 1979, South Africa was not ICC member, and therefore ineligible to compete in the tournament. There are so many memories of South African team in semi-finals of world cup event. One of those memory was in 1992 semifinal against England when South Africa needed 22 runs in 7 balls target revered to 22 runs in 1 ball due to rain interruption. In 1999 that dropped catch of Steve Waugh by Gibbs and Donald’s run out in semifinal ruined them out of world cup final. Here is their journey so far in world cup history:
